DCSA Open House/Orientation Schedule Partial Open House schedule is shown after photo below. Orientation schedule is at bottom of page. While DCSA maintains no specific office hours, a DCSA representative is frequently on site at sporadic intervals (some days, nights and/or weekends at times other than those shown below). "First-time visitors" should understand that, while there may be one or more people on site, these individuals are not necessarily going to be in a position to answer questions, much less allow you to enter. Do not be offended if they ignore you and/or simply direct you to this web site. If - after completely reading the signs on this web site and/or near the entrance driveway - the "OPEN HOUSE" sign is visible displayed, feel free to park and walk inside. If the "OPEN HOUSE" sign is NOT displayed, DO NO ENTER unless: (1) You have already signed up online for a class, or (2) You have a scheduled appointment with an instructor, or (3) You are a LEO in uniform or a DCSA Freedom Plan Member. Coming inside during an "Open House" period is the often the best way for prospective students or new Freedom Plan members to check out the facilities, ask questions that are not already answered in this web site, get scheduled in a class, look at calendars together for an appointment, etc. See text at the bottom of this page in regard to possibilities regarding scheduling a "Private Open House" appointment. Unlike typical public ranges, "drop in" shooting is not available to those who have not completed DCSA's Safety Orientation, checklist and Liability Release. Once completed, however, "Freedom Plan" Associates with acceptable proof of prior training can shoot on a "drop in" basis. See "General Information" and "Freedom Plan" web page(s) for details.
Scheduled "No Cost" Open House Periods:
Individuals with busy schedules and/or simply desiring a private session for whatever* can request a brief "private open house" at times other than the "no charge" times shown above for a minimum appointment fee of $40. Please direct e-mail requests for such appointments and the nature of your need to talk to dcsa1996@yahoo.com. Please include at least the day(s)/time(s) that would fit best for you and at least 2 phone numbers. * Your Aunt Susie died and left you her old nightstand pistol. You want someone else to shoot it to see if it goes "bang" before giving it to your daughter in Houston. We might or might not want to shoot it. But, please don't be offended if we take your money for the appointment and suggest the thing probably best given to your son in Tyler for use as a trot line weight. ;) When an appointment is scheduled to set up a private class ($200 deposit) or specifically for a completion of DCSA's initial range safety orientation (approx, 1 hour / $31.88) and to purchase a Freedom Plan, the minimum $40 appointment fee will be waived. Thereafter, "Freedom Plan" shooter members can come and go to practice independently for up to one year. (See "Freedom Plan" Web Pages.) Individuals who have already completed a recognized class (see "General Info." page) at DCSA or elsewhere can also make a mutually convenient appointment with an Instructor for an initial DCSA ($31.88 per person) orientation (if not completed within the prior 12 months) and subsequent (private or supervised) practice. Instructor may arrange to (1) unlock the building, (2) conduct the mandatory initial orientation and remain on site for $60 per hour ($80 on weekends) thereafter, offering assistance (such as malfunction clearances) and/or training as desired - or allowing the individual(s) to practice independently. This option is typically applicable for some who, for whatever reasons, want an Instructor or Range Officer on site while they shoot. Such shooters, after one or more hourly sessions, may subsequently develop a "comfortable confidence" and thereafter opt for a less expensive independent "Freedom Plan" practice option. ORIENTATIONS Regardless of what Instructor, the first hour of almost all scheduled classes at DCSA consists of a review of NRA's top ten rules of shooting safety and some of the proper firearms and ammunition terminology. Individuals who have had an approved class elsewhere and are seeking a Freedom Plan are encouraged to consider one of the following times for the required DCSA safety orientation. It is recommended you send an e-mail in advance to dcsa1996@yahoo.com to be sure an appropriate party can present to deal with the paperwork and new member card(s). Scheduled start time for (approx. 1-hour) orientations: Sat., Jan. 4 - 8:00 a.m. Tue., Jan. 7 - 6:00 p.m. Thur., Jan. 9 - 6:00 p.m. Tue., Jan. 14 - 6:00 p.m. Sat., Jan. 18 - 9:00 a.m. Mon., Jan. 20 - 8:00 a.m. Thur., Jan. 23 - 6:00 p.m. Sat., Jan. 25 - 9:30 a.m. Sun., Jan. 26 - 1:30 p.m. Wed., Jan. 29 - 6:00 p.m. Sat., Feb. 1 - 9:00 a.m. Additional dates/times pending return to main: www.dentoncountysports.com |
